Rep. Barry Moore has expressed his support for H.R. 7343, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens who Assault Cops Act, sponsored by Rep. Van Drew (R-NJ). The legislation aims to facilitate the detention and deportation of illegal aliens who assault law enforcement officers.
The proposed bill is a response to an incident that occurred on January 27, 2024, when four NYPD officers were violently attacked by a group of illegal aliens. Two members of this group have not yet been apprehended, while four others have been released on bail. Reports indicate that some of the illegal aliens involved in the attack traveled to the west coast using taxpayer funds.
If enacted at the time of this incident, the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act would have ensured these individuals were swiftly detained and remained in custody while their cases were processed. Following this, they would have been immediately deported.
"An illegal alien who attacks our law enforcement shows no respect for our rule of law or institutions and should be removed immediately," stated Moore. "Thanks to Biden's open borders, this law is necessary to protect those who put their lives on the line daily to keep American families safe."
