AAMU’s Social Work Programs will hold a Child Welfare Day & Lemonade Social on Tuesday, April 19, from 4 – 9 p.m. in McCalep-McIntosh Hall.
There will be food, entertainment, continuing education units (CEU’s) and child welfare provider exhibits.
Keynote speaker, Tonita K. Phipps, retired director of the Madison County Department of Human Services, will discuss the evolution of child welfare.
Guest speaker Camille Jones, owner of Joy Counseling Center, LLC., will discuss narcissistic parenting and how it impacts child welfare.
Dora Cook, project coordinator for Opioid Impacted Families Support Traineeship Project, AAMU Department of Social Work, Psychology & Counseling, will discuss suicide prevention among children and young adults.
Willie Diggs, director of field education in the AAMU Social Work Department, will discuss African American males from a family and child welfare perspective.
Presentations will be from 4 – 6 p.m.
