Montgomery County issued the following announcement on August 2.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lee County Commissioner Johnny Lawrence after battling COVID-19 for several weeks. Mr. Lawrence truly had a love for others.
He spent much of his life serving, first as a Firefighter and then as County Commissioner. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the entire Lee County community.
We ask that you honor him by continuing to wear your mask, social distance, and wash your hands.
