Rep. Barry Moore announced his support for H.R. 9668, the SHIELD Against CCP Act, after voting in favor of it. The bill aims to establish a working group within the Department of Homeland Security focused on countering threats from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). These threats include terrorism, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and security concerns related to borders, ports, and transportation.

The legislation seeks to enhance the U.S. government's capacity to safeguard Americans from issues such as intellectual property theft, human trafficking, forced labor, and fentanyl trafficking. It proposes identifying policy gaps, promoting agency collaboration, and ensuring transparency.

"The Chinese Communist Party is a clear and present threat to our national security," Moore stated. "From trafficking fentanyl to buying up American farmland near our military installations, their actions demand a strong, swift, and united response. This bill ensures we are better prepared to confront these dangers."
