Washington, D.C. - This week, Rep. Barry Moore (AL-02), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, questioned FBI Director Wray regarding the events at the Trump Rally in Butler, Pennsylvania that led to an assassination attempt.
From Moore's questioning of Director Wray:
Congressman Moore: "You [Director Wray] have a very difficult job right now. In the past, and under Comey certainly, the FBI dealt with the Russian collusion theory, then spying on General Flynn, and the Hunter Biden laptop issue. I represent about 800,000 people, and our job [in Congress] is to restore trust.
In many of the hearings we've had this week, the answer has been 'the FBI is investigating that' [regarding the Trump assassination attempt]. This landed in your lap and I appreciate you being here, but how do you work to restore trust? And how does a 20-year-old end up on a ladder within shooting distance of a former President?"
Director Wray: "The adequacy of the performance of Secret Service will be the subject of the Inspector General investigation with an outside independent panel. What I can tell you, and I'm glad you asked the question, is that the first time law enforcement saw the subject on the roof was a few minutes before the shooting. Local law enforcement saw the suspect on the roof, not with a weapon, a few minutes before the shooting, and started radioing."
