Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Barry Moore (AL-02) released a statement after voting in favor of H.R. 8752, the 2025 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. This legislation would compel President Biden and Secretary Mayorkas to prioritize securing the southern border and apprehending criminals to protect American families. The bill includes Moore's amendment that expresses Congressional disapproval and allows for increased oversight of the Transportation Security Administration's new policy on deploying face scanners for travelers at American airports.

"In just the last month, we've seen numerous cases of Americans raped or murdered by illegals who came across Joe Biden's open border,” said Moore. “Biden wants to give these illegals amnesty so they can vote for him. Our mission in Congress should be to ensure that we secure our border and deport criminals to protect American families and the integrity of our elections. This legislation helps us do that by forcing Biden and Mayorkas to finish the border wall and begin deporting the millions of illegals they have allowed into our country."

The 2025 Homeland Security Appropriations Act includes several provisions:

- Provides $600 million for construction of the southern border wall.

- Forces Secretary Mayorkas to adhere to the law and build physical barriers immediately.

- Funds 22,000 Border Patrol agents.

- Provides $300 million for border security technology.

- Allocates $4.1 billion for custody and detention operations, more than ever appropriated before.

- Funds four additional Coast Guard Fast Response Cutters, including an offshore cutter made at Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.

- Allocates $4.2 million for increased maritime engagements with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific.

- Prevents funding for critical race theory training.

- Prevents funding for electric vehicles and related infrastructure, saving taxpayers $30 million.
