Lady Eagles Split Doubleheader With Brewton-Parker | Faulkner Athletics
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A pair of shutouts, one each way, resulted in a doubleheader split for Southern States Athletic Conference foes Faulkner and Brewton-Parker Friday.
FAULKNER 6, BREWTON-PARKER 0
The Lady Eagles took the opener 6-0 on the back of a complete game shutout effort from Katelynn Inness. Faulkner's No. 1 pitcher struck out six over seven innings of work while surrendering three hits and issuing one walk.
The bats supported her early as Chloe Davidson had a leadoff single in the first and made it home on a Gracie Pittman RBI base hit.
The Faulkner bats opened the third on a torrid pace with Davidson, Anna Purvis, Pittman and Erika Mitchell all singling to open the frame. Mitchell's single plated Purvis to make it 2-0. However, a caught stealing and an excellent snare by the BPC shortstop on a line drive changed the complexion of the inning and limited the Eagles to just one run.
Ivey Hill singled in Purvis in the fifth to move the Lady Eagle lead to 3-0. Hal Wynn turned to his bench in the sixth after AnnaMarie Stooksbury led off with a single. Jordan Boyd entered the game as a pinch runner and Wynn summoned freshmen Mandi Hart and Abby Terrell for pinch hit opportunities. The pair made the most of their opportunities as each singled. Terrell's single drove home Boyd to make it 4-0. Pittman followed with a double off the base of the right field fence to drive in Hart and Davidson, setting the final margin.

Despite stringing together four consecutive hits in the first inning and recording eight in the ball game, Faulkner failed to score in game two on the way to a 5-0 loss.
Davidson opened the bottom of the first with a single before getting thrown out stretching. Purvis, Pittman and Mitchell all followed with singles to load the bases but the Lady Eagles failed to put another ball out of the infield. That was Faulkner's best chance to score in the game as Julianna Thames and Natalie O'Neal locked in a pitcher's duel for five innings.
Brewton-Parker finally broke through in the midst of a chaotic sixth inning that saw the Barons plate four runs. Abbey Flowers doubled home Alyssa Usrey. Chloe Strickland singled in Flowers before an error allowed two more to score. Flowers added an insurance run in the seventh on a single that drove in Alexis Bradshaw.
Faulkner (12-11, 4-6 SSAC) is set to resume play Monday against Southeastern Baptist after the Middle Georgia State doubleheader was postponed due to the threat of inclement weather.
