Washington D.C. - Rep. Barry Moore of Alabama and Senator Mike Lee from Utah have addressed a letter to the Department of Justice (DOJ) regarding concerns about the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and its Firearms and Explosives Imports Branch (FEIB).
The legislators argue that ATF's import policies are unclear and lack proper oversight, which they claim allows FEIB to obscure past rulings leading to misuse of power. They assert these regulations are inconsistently applied, reducing the ability to import firearms each year.
Rep. Moore stated, "For many years, the ATF has violated the constitution, undermining Americans' Second Amendment rights. The rules surrounding the importation of legal firearms are just another example of government weaponization." He expressed optimism for Second Amendment protections under President Trump's administration.
Senator Lee added his perspective: “For too long, the ATF has slowly constricted the ability of law-abiding Americans to exercise their Second Amendment rights, especially when regulating the legal importation of firearms to the United States. Now that Attorney General Bondi and President Trump are returning our government to the Constitution and to the American people, we can look forward to many oppressive regulations being lifted."
