Today, Rep. Barry Moore expressed his support for the bill S. 4610, which aims to officially designate the bald eagle as the national bird of the United States. The bald eagle has long been a symbol of American values and appears on military insignia, government seals, and various cultural symbols. This legislation seeks to confirm its status as the official national bird, recognizing its historical significance in representing the country.
Moore highlighted the importance of the bald eagle by saying: “From its place on the Great Seal in 1782 to its comeback from near extinction, the bald eagle has always stood as a symbol of America’s strength, freedom, and resilience.” He also shared a personal connection: “As an Auburn graduate, there’s nothing like watching the eagle soar before kickoff, hearing the crowd roar ‘War Eagle,’ and feeling a sense of freedom and pride. It’s a reminder to stand tall, push forward, and never back down—just like our nation has and always will.”
