13 businesses registered in four cities found within Elmore County in the week ending Feb. 11

There were 13 businesses that registered in cities within Elmore County in the week ending Feb. 11, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 86 percent more than the week before, when seven businesses were registered.

Wetumpka registered the most businesses in Elmore County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
