AAMU Founder’s Day Program Set for Friday
Alabama A&M University will holds its annual Founder’s Day Observance on Friday, May 6, at the T.M. Elmore Building at 4 p.m. The event honors the accomplishments and legacy of Dr. William Hooper Councill, the nearly 150-year-old institution’s first president.
The Honorable Linda Coleman-Madison, Alabama State Senator and AAMU alumnus, will be the guest speaker. Sen. Coleman-Madison previous served as a state representative, as well as an influential member of the Birmingham City Council.
The program will also pay tribute to Henrika Buchanan (right) as Alumna of the Year. Buchanan currently serves as a National Practice Consultant and Vice President for HNTB Corporation, one of the leading transportation infrastructure design firms in the country.
Following the program, many attendees will proceed to the William Hooper Councill Memorial and Eternal Flame for a closing tribute.
