Montgomery Museum of Fines Arts recently issued the following announcement.

Date: Wednesday, October 21; 5:30 PM–6:30 PM

Overview:

The Museum and the Capri Theatre often work together presenting introductions to films about fine art and drawing connections to the Museum’s collection. Join the Capri Theatre’s Martin McCaffery and MMFA Educator Elisabeth Palmer in a Creative Conversation about the art of films, film programming, the Capri, and its beloved role in the community.

About the Capri and Martin McCaffery

The Capri first opened in 1941 as the Clover Theatre. It was later remodeled and given its current name in the early 1960s. A group of neighbors and enthusiasts then formed The Capri Theatre Society to ensure the preservation of this cherished part of Montgomery’s history. The non-profit organization took over the Capri’s operations, bringing in Martin McCaffery as director in November 1985. Under his direction, the theatre began building a new reputation for itself by projecting eclectic, independent and foreign films.

Prior to coming to Montgomery, McCaffery was a projectionist at numerous theaters in the Washington, DC area for nine years, three of those years while attending the University of Maryland and receiving a BS in Journalism.
