Cost of college went up for all students at Auburn University at Montgomery

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.8 percent for 2018-19 at Auburn University at Montgomery, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama residents paid $8,404 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $384 more than the $8,020 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 111.9 percent more than residents this year, or $17,812. Their price tag grew 3.9 percent from $17,140 in 2017-18.

About 87 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Alabama residents. About 8 percent are residents of other states and 5 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 96 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 587 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.5 million and 346 students took out student loans totaling more than $2 million.

Including all undergraduates (5,211), 3,108 students used grants or scholarships totaling $23.1 million, and 2,389 students took out $16.9 million in federal student loans.
