Cost of college went up for all students at H Councill Trenholm State Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.9 percent for 2018-19 at H Councill Trenholm State Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Alabama residents paid $4,650 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $300 more than the $4,350 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 83.2 percent more than residents this year, or $8,520. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 7.6 percent from $7,920 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Alabama residents.

Data shows 86 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 247 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.3 million.

Including all undergraduates (1,855), 1,487 students used grants or scholarships totaling $5.5 million.
