Washington, D.C. — Representative Barry Moore has introduced the Farmers' Market Expansion Act, a piece of legislation aimed at expanding the reach of the USDA's Seniors' Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) by adding tree nuts, specifically shelled tree nuts, to the program. The SFMNP currently provides fresh, nutritious, locally grown fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey to eligible low-income seniors.In fiscal year 2022, the SFMNP had an impressive 757,751 seniors participate, with 15,089 farmers selling their products through the program.
