Rep. Barry Moore of Alabama’s 1st District has expressed his support for President Donald J. Trump’s rescissions package, which aims to cut $9.4 billion in federal funding deemed wasteful or unnecessary. The package, recently passed by House Republicans, targets unobligated funds from various programs including NPR, PBS, and certain foreign aid initiatives.
In a statement released today, Rep. Moore emphasized the importance of fiscal responsibility in government spending: “President Trump understands what too many in Washington have forgotten: this is the people’s money.” He further stated that his role as a representative is to be “a responsible steward” of taxpayer dollars rather than approving projects that do not benefit Americans.
Moore praised President Trump for his leadership in promoting financial discipline and prioritizing America’s interests. He described the rescissions package as a significant move against excessive government spending and bureaucracy.
