Rep. Barry Moore, who represents Alabama’s 2nd district in the U.S. Congress, announced his support for the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026. The bill aims to improve conditions for military personnel, including a 3.8% pay raise and over $20 billion in taxpayer savings.

Moore also cosponsored an amendment by Representative Jimmy Patronis of Florida, which removes the Biden Administration’s preference for electric and hybrid vehicles in defense operations. According to Moore, this measure is intended to prioritize reliability and mission needs over political considerations.

“I am proud to support this year’s National Defense Authorization Act because it is a comprehensive step forward in keeping America safe and keeping our military strong,” said Congressman Moore. “This bill provides our troops with the resources, training, and modern equipment they need to meet threats at home and abroad. It strengthens our readiness by ending DEI and rooting out Biden’s woke policies, supports our veterans, and invests in the future of our national security. For Alabama families and communities, it means knowing our men and women in uniform are fully equipped to protect our freedom. Passing this legislation is a vote to protect American families and honor the service, sacrifice, and dedication of those who defend our nation every single day.”

The FY26 NDAA includes several provisions: restoring meritocracy within the armed forces by codifying efforts against certain ideological practices; reauthorizing military bonuses; allocating more than $1.4 billion for new barracks and family housing; fully funding deployment of National Guard troops at the Southern Border; generating significant savings through reforms initiated under President Trump’s budget request; and supporting preparations for potential conflict in key regions.

Barry Moore has served as U.S. Representative since 2021 after replacing Martha Roy. He previously served in the Alabama House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. Born in Coffee County in 1966, Moore resides in Enterprise, Alabama. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree.
