Of the 101 students assessed for college readiness in the county, 57 were Black or African American and met college readiness standards—a 42.5% increase from the previous year.
Countywide, Central High School had the highest percentage of Black or African American students ready for college.
Alabama’s educational system was rated as one of the worst in the U.S., according to a 2023 study from Scholaroo. The state was ranked 46th based on factors such as school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
