Rep. Barry Moore of Alabama’s 1st District announced the passage of H.R. 875, known as The Jeremy and Angel Seay and Sergeant Brandon Mendoza Protect Our Communities from DUIs Act of 2025, in the U.S. House of Representatives. The bill passed with a vote count of 209-160.
The legislation aims to deport and render inadmissible illegal immigrants who have been convicted of or admit to driving while impaired.
In his remarks on the House floor, Rep. Moore stated, “Today, we consider a simple common-sense bill that says if you’re a guest in our country and you drive drunk, you should in fact be deported.” He emphasized that passing this bill should be straightforward for Americans and called it a “rational, normal, and coherent step” for the House to take.
Moore expressed skepticism about bipartisan support but remained thankful for the consideration of HR 875. “Even in a polarized time, Democrats should be able to join Republicans and unanimously support such reasonable legislation,” he said.
