FOIA Request to J F Ingram State Technical College Regarding Chinese National Students on May 16, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at River Region Times have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to J F Ingram State Technical College. Our request seeks information under the Alabama Open Records Law § 36-12-40 et seq., with a focus on the presence and academic involvement of Chinese National students at the institution.
The specific details requested include:
1. Documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If privacy concerns arise, we have asked for the total number of such students broken down by department.
2. Information regarding scholarships received by these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.
3. Details about any scholarships affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council that are awarded to these students.
4. Policies or procedures implemented by the university to monitor students, including Chinese Nationals, in order to protect intellectual property and other confidential information.
This request is made in collaboration with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
